GemMacrame Studio opened in November 2025, a dream come true for me.

You can find me at my premises at 10 Victoria Street, Felixstowe, Suffolk, IP11 7ER where I will be working and running workshops. I will also have all my items available for sale.

I am running regular sessions such as WIP Wednesday and the monthly Knotty Kids Club.

Hello! 👋🏻

Back to school today and I am back in the studio, trying to work hard but I need to find some motivation!

I thought I would share these two gorgeous macrame owls that I created for a wonderful lady last month.

She ordered two owls, one for herself which is the brown/orange tones owl, and one for her mother in law which is based on Duolingo.

I absolutely adored making these owls, and they really inspired me to make my mini owls again which you will have seen posted here somewhere! I especially love the mix up in colours!

I will be making more larger owls at some point, but if you would like to order one in the colour of your choice then you can contact me directly.

Something different for the studio today!

It’s party day!! 🎉🥳

I’m holding my first crafty party and have the perfect Guinea pig….my daughter!

We have planned lots of fun activities and we’re so excited to have everyone here to celebrate.

We are making full use of the space by having crafting in the workshop room and disco and party games in the studio room.

Oooo I’m so excited for this!!

It’s the 2026 Macrame Temperature Wall Hanging!

I had this idea last year but didn’t get round to it so this year is the year.

I’ve picked 10 colours to represent the temperatures we get here in the uk and I have 31 strings on my dowel to represent each day of the month. I’ll use white to for the months that don’t have 31 days.

Then it’s the colour that represents the daily temperature each day which should hopefully give a really cool pixel effect!

I’m so excited to see this wall hanging grow, and I’m not going to lie, I’m already chomping at the bit to do more of it but obviously I can’t 😂

I plan to update this once a week so I get to do a decent amount of knots in a row so follow along to watch this wall hanging grow!

As 2025 comes to an end, I have to take a minute to say a massive thank you to the wonderful people in my life who have always had my back and supported me no matter what, and also the wonderful women I met throughout the year too.

There are of course many more of you, but for some reason I didn’t get a selfie with you this year, must do better in 2026!

What a year it’s been!

I know I’m a bit early for the 2025 recap vids but I just loved this one looking back on so many memories made this year that I had to share it straight away!

I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a positive year, there’s been a lot of surprises and some big changes and experiences.

But also a lot of memories made both in my business and personal life.

Still busy planning things for next year, one thing I’ve definitely not taught enough is macrame wall hangings so watch this space for new workshops popping up in the new year!

For now, I’m starting ti slow down a bit. The grey days are definitely effecting my mood so time for a bit of self care and get ready for Christmas holidays to start.

The studio will be closed from now until 6th January, although you may find me here on occasion! If there’s anything you are desperate for then you can always let me know and I’ll try my best for you!

Today saw the first ever Knotty Kids Club and we had a lot of fun making some Christmas Gonks.

Everyone did so well, I was so impressed! So many lovely colours being used and a great introduction to some easy macrame knots.

He even put my little twig tree up with some new decorations on which looks lovely and festive. He even added my little macrame Gonks 🥰

Macrame Cords Gorgeousness!

I ordered these new macrame cords from a business called Cozy Yarns UK on Etsy (I can’t find them on here) and they arrived yesterday whilst I was out at the market,

Today I had a little look and feel of them and I am so excited to play with these! Stunning variegated cords are so much fun and I bought them with the mermaid tail workshop in mind.

🌺 Macrame Floral Wreath 🌺

I made this macrame wreath either last year or the year before as a half wreath with the other side blank. I always meant to add something to it but inspiration failed to hit me until a couple of weeks ago!

I found some beautiful paper flowers in my stash and it clicked!

Such a pretty wreath that could be for Christmas or all year round.

This Friday 5th I am running a workshop at GemMacrame Studio where you can make your own wreath if you fancy coming along. It’s a four hour workshop, with refreshments included.

Custom Orders!

I met a lovely lady this year at Art On The Prom and she spoke to me about her cousin who had a large collection of cowboy hats covering the back of his sofa and she wanted something better for him to display his hats.

So she commissioned me to make these two macrame hat holders and don’t they look fantastic!! I used a dark grey braided cord to make them and they display the hats beautifully! I’ve had her permission to share these pictures.

It’s always such a honour to see my work hanging in peoples homes, and this was such a lovely gift idea.

Commissions are open if you have a good gift idea for someone for Christmas.

Workshop Space Available!

Are you a tutor looking for space to teach your craft? I am now happy to announce I will be renting my workshop room out for those looking for a venue to teach.

Whether it’s a two hour workshop, or a full day, please get in touch. I have kitchen facilities on hand for the all important teas and coffees as well as bathroom facilities as well. Plus we are right in the town centre so it’s easily accessible.

The workshop room itself is a lovely size and can easily accommodate up to 10 attendees.

Make a macrame angel with me!

Macrame angels are always popular at this time of year and that’s lucky because I love making them!

I made this especially for one of my bestest friends, she’s been my friend for just over 30 years!! 🫶🏻

I’ve used the gorgeous candy cane cord from @bilibagfactory for the dress and hair and the show stopping golden natural from @hello_bobbiny for the wings. A gorgeous addition for your Christmas decor, or year round!

The cords are all from @bilibagfactory so you know it’s fantastic quality, and it’s all 3mm twisted cord. The colours may vary based on availability but I’m aimed to have a rainbow choice of colours.

If you want one of these kits with a different colour theme please contact me directly and I can do this for you. So for example if you prefer more neutral tones I can certainly accommodate this for you.

These macrame Christmas tree decorations seem to be rather popular this year! So fun and easy to make and the the choice of colours is endless.

I’m actually obsessed with the fuchsia pink colour on the left, not sure I can part with that one so I guess I’ll have to make another one!

It’s been a while, but there is finally a new post up on my blog!!

Believe it or not, but I actually started writing it on holiday back in August, but then something went wrong and I lost everything I had written! I haven’t had the motivation to turn the laptop back on until today and luckily I managed to find everything I had written…phew 😅

We continue with the A to Z of Macrame and today’s blog post takes a look at the letter D. Not going to lie, I found it difficult to think of things for this letter but I found a few things like one of my favourite knots, the double half hitch.

Yesterdays Workshops!

Yesterday I spent the day at @mrsicrafts teaching some absolutely lovely people.

In the morning we made pretty macrame necklaces which can hold beautiful crystals.

Then in the afternoon we make beautiful macrame Christmas tree decorations!

So much fun!

I am going to be planning my first workshops in my new studio this week so if there are any workshops you would like to attend let me know and I’ll plan them in.
